Political Mother: Derry~Londonderry Uncut

Political Mother: Derry~Londonderry Uncut draws upon Derry~ Londonderry’s rich musical culture, featuring a live band including 20 young local musicians performing alongside the international musicians and dancers of Hofesh Shechter Company on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th March 2013.

Inspired by Political Mother, the Company will also create five new choreographies in collaboration with specially selected local dance groups; Political Mother Shortcuts will be performed in locations around the city in free performances on Saturday 9 March.

“I want to give the musicians and dancers from Derry a sense of what is out there, what it is to be part of a huge show, part of something that is dance and music and nothing else.  No agendas, just being part of a really powerful performance which brings people together. What matters by the end of Political Mother are the very simple human qualities we share, a feeling for what’s right and wrong. What matters is the connection between the people.
