Taking part has been at the heart of Hofesh Shechter Company’s ethos since its inception in 2008. On stage, we create powerful work that reaches out to people in new ways, making real and powerful connections.
Our Learning Programme takes this energy to inspire and provoke our participants, presenting a warm invitation to join our extended family and tribe. Hofesh and the dancers enjoy working and dancing with groups from all backgrounds. We specialise in supporting dancers from the age of 14+.
Our strength is our ensemble of exceptional dancers, both past and present. This gives our participants direct connection to the creation process and performance of our repertoire, offering a unique insight into the inner workings of the company. Whether watching one of our performances, performing in our Made In… series or taking part in our regular intensives for professionals – you are only ever two degrees of separation from the originator of the work.
The programme is woven through our busy national and international touring life. Over the last three years we have worked directly with over 6,500 people, providing opportunities to meet the artistic team and delve deeply into Hofesh’s movement and creation process.
From 2018 we are delighted to be working with UK partners Brighton Dome/Our Future City, DanceEast, East London Dance, Historic Royal Palaces and LIFT, Hastings Borough Council, SouthEast Dance, London Contemporary Dance School and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. These partnerships have been established for the next four years to support the in depth development of dancers and communities within the East and South East of England.
